Third Grade
March 2010
Reading~ The unit test will be before Spring break!
Students are working on thinking through problems, and will show this
through (surprise, surprise) a project. Students
are going to be thinking through a science experiment, taking it step by step
to get good results to solve their problems.
Math~
We are going to continue with multiplication and division, but we are making
it more difficult! PLEASE continue
the studying at home; students are slowing on the timed test, but it is imperative
that they keep this skill.
Science~
We are learning about the solar system! Planets
and the sun are taking up our science time. Students should be able to explain why we have
day and night and all the seasons. This
is a tricky concept, but they are starting to grasp it and will definitely
have it by the end of the month!
Social
Studies~ You would not believe the
work your student is putting into his/her World’s Fair project! There is still much to come. The students can tell you all about the country
that he/she chose. We are looking
at France, Nigeria, Thailand, China, Japan, Greece, and Italy. More information will be going home about when
we are going to display the projects. Please
come join us for the fun event!
Religion~
We are going to continue focusing on Lent and our Lenten promises. Students have taken the time to give up bad
habits and pick up good and healthy habits.
At home, please encourage you son/daughter to observe these promises
as we all make this long journey to become better and more like Jesus.
Remember
to keep checking the class website for updated homework and information about
upcoming events. Look at www.scholastic.com. Under the Parent section, you will be able
to find a link to Classroom Homepage. Click
on that link. The username is stbenthirdgrade,

let me know! Thanks for all the work
you are doing at home!
