January 2012 Newsletter

First Grade

January is such a busy month. Hopefully by now each child has decided on a topic for the Curriculum Fair project.

The students are to research one of the planets. They will do the written report and visual.

Directions were sent home before the holiday. Project is due by Thursday, January 26, 2012.

Join us in class on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. to see each report presented.

In Reading the class has finished Book 3.

Watch for a new reading vocabulary list to come home in classroom folders when we return from break.

In Math the students will begin adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers without regrouping.

Continue to work on addition and subtraction facts to 10. These should be memorized by now.

Continue working on counting money and telling time.

In Science the class is studying Space and Weather.
In Religion the class is learning about our parish and all the great helpers that are in the parish.
In Social Studies the class is studying wants and needs, money and money in other countries.

Come and see all the classroom's projects throughout the school.
Please continue reading A.R. books. I hope that each student can make their goal this trimester.
