Second Grade
March 2010
March will be a busy month for the second graders.
As we journey through Lent, we will continue to read Bible passages,
decorate and discuss the Stations of the Cross, attend weekly Mass, work in
our Totally Lent books, and try to keep our promises to Jesus.
Second graders are also learning about the parts of the Mass and will
be making a Mass booklet as they continue to prepare for their First Communion.
We are completing our cross-curricular unit ( Language
Arts/Science ) about BATS. We will divide into learning centers as we complete
various activities geared to different learning styles. Ask your child about
what new and interesting facts we have discovered.
In Math, the second graders are learning to subtract
two 2- digit numbers, regrouping when necessary. Please continue to have your
child study flashcards nightly for accuracy and speed.
We will be focusing on types of pronouns in Grammar.
Please help your child to recognize pronouns and who/what they refer to as
you read nightly.
Writing descriptive paragraphs, adding details, and
then self- editing will also be covered this trimester.
March Reading Logs and Book Reports will soon be due.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy Spring!
