Happy March!  The children have now made it through 2/3 of Kindergarten!  They made it to their 100th day of Kindergarten last month. Lots of fun activities were done on that day.

In Reading we just finished Unit 4.  The students were tested on various things for their report card.  The next set of words that we will be working on will be from the “ig” family.  Some of our next sight words that we will be learning are for, he, she, and has.

In Math we completed our unit on addition.  The students learned how to add numbers up to 10.  Most of them did very well.  We have now started our unit on subtraction.  Our next unit that we will be focusing on is money.

In Science we recognized and described different types of clouds.  The kids painted different types of clouds on paper.  Then we moved on to talk about what occurs in nature and what people do in different seasons.  A venn diagram on seasons was completed.  The children also took a survey from eight of the kids to see what season they liked best.  They made tally marks to keep track of this.  Finally we talked about the sun and shadows.  The students made pictures of activities that they did in the sun.

In Religion the children learned to ask for God’s blessing and that our families help us to discover God’s world.  All of us need to share God’s love and know how much that God cares for us.  In February the season of Lent began.  We have already discussed the first four stations of the cross.  The students have also been coloring the pages in their stations of the cross booklet.  We also have discussed the pages in the Totally Lent book.

Please continue to work on Handwriting with your child.  Next week we will be doing the letters G,g.  Some of the upcoming letters that we will be studying are E,e, B,b, and H,h.  Your child will have to write their first and last names on their homework for the rest of the year.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone!
