Well,
the kindergarten class has almost made it to the end of the year! They have come so far and learned so much
this year.
We
are in our last unit in our Reading book.
The students are currently working on the color words. Some of the new words that we have learned
are with, was, and see. The word of
will be the next word that we will be working on. After we finish our Reading book we will be working on reading
from other books to see what the children can read.
In
Math we completed our chapter in measurement.
The students learned how to estimate and measure things by using
manipulatives. We are currently working
on our unit in time. We have already
worked on months of the year, how to read a calendar, and how to solve problems
by sequencing events. Next we will
actually be working on telling time to the hour and half hour. We will end the school year with a chapter
on geometry and fractions.
In
Science we learned about water and that water is a natural resource. We explored the properties of changing
states of water also. Then we moved on
to motion and talked about wheels. Next
we will be moving on to how things move and sounds all around.
In
Religion we learned to show our friends God’s love. We also talked about some saints. Friends are special gifts and we need to thank God for the gift
of our friends. Then we talked about
the fact that God wanted Mary to be the mother of Jesus. Finally we learned that God the father gave
us the gift of his son Jesus who was one of us and had feelings just like us.
We
are continuing to work on our printing.
This week we are working on the letters v and x. Next week we will be working on the letters
q,j,y, and c. Most of the children in
the class have nice handwriting, so keep working on it!
We
have many things to look forward to in the future! We are looking forward to our field trip to the Chicago
Children’s Museum at Navy Pier on Monday, May 17th. Our spring musical will be on Thursday, May
20th. The children will be
singing the song “Hot Hot Hot” and doing the limbo! We will also be preparing and practicing for their
graduation. Have a nice summer
everyone!
