Can
you believe we're at the end of another school year?
I would like to wish everyone a wonderful summer.
I
hope this summer gives you "time" to relax, have fun,
and
worship at Mass on Saturday or Sunday.
We
cannot take a vacation from God.
You
made a promise for your child at his/her Baptism.
Are
you doing what you promised?
To
our families who are leaving us and moving on,
we
wish you the best of luck in your new homes and schools. We will miss you.
To
the families who will be returning, we will be glad to see
your
smiling faces back with us in August.
Many
thanks are in order for the faculty and staff
who
worked so closely with the students and one another.
They
are truly dedicated and care deeply for the welfare and education of the children.
My
thanks to the students for all of their hard work and pride they take in their
school.
I
am most grateful to the parents who have entrusted their children to us. Special
thanks to the parents who were able to volunteer and help us in so many ways
this year. You can sign up for activities to fulfill your ten-hour commitment
in August during registration week.
Please
encourage families to register at St. Benedict.
Remember,
you will receive a $200 tuition credit for each new family you refer.
God bless you and your families. You are always in my prayers.
I
thank God for the opportunity to serve as the principal of St. Benedict School.
It
was the family atmosphere and diversity that captured my interest over eight
years ago.
Those
same things are even more evident today.
I
am truly blessed. Enjoy the summer!
H.A.S.A. Board
Thank you to Michelle Bauer for her years
of service as President. Benita Rucker will be our new HASA President. Kimberly
Rucker will continue to serve as Treasurer. Lela Foster will be the Secretary.
Every parent is a member and is needed to assist in the many activities
that H.A.S.A sponsors throughout the school year. Sign-up for activities
that can help you to fulfill your ten volunteer hours will be done the week
of August 10 during registration.
Board of Specified Jurisdiction
Thank you to the Board of Specified
Jurisdiction for the excellent job you did with the Golf Outing.
The profit from the event was $5,600.

to donate for the sale during June in the school office.

On Friday, May 29, a special Graduation
Awards Assembly was held in Church followed by a Pot Luck Dinner for the graduates
and their families from 6:45 - 800 p.m. in the church hall. In this newsletter
you will find a list of graduates and their various achievements, both academic

Student Council 2009-2010
Officers for next year's Student
Council were elected on May 28. Current seventh grade students were eligible
for officer positions. The following students were elected by Grades 4-7.
The officers are as follows: President: Jerry M, Vice P: Casey Warrick, Secretary:
Brianna F, Treasurer: Ryan B, School Spirit: Ambria T, Publicity: Ashley R.
Installation of the new officers will take place after our opening school

Preschool and Kindergarten Celebrations
Both Preschool and Kindergarten students had end
of the year celebrations. The celebrations for both groups consisted of
a special program of dramatization and song, passing out of diplomas and
refreshments. It was so touching to see the many relatives and friends that
came to celebrate such an important moment in these young children's lives.
May the support and encouragement continue through the years ahead. "Together
We Work For the Children We Love."
Summer School
Summer School will run from June 8 through June 26 for students entering Grade
1 through 4. Mrs. Konrath sent home information to parents in grades 1-6 about
schedules and payment. There is still time to register your child. Additional
forms are available in the school office.
Please note that if summer school
was required for your child, he/she must attend our program or another summer
school program. We will need to see a written evaluation in August if attending
a program other than St. Benedict's. Summer school for Grades 7-8 will not
be available at St. Benedict this year.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Information about
St. John Fisher's Program was sent home.

due in May. Hot Lunch will begin on Tuesday, August 25 for Grades 1-8.

form - just as they did before. You need to reapply each year for free/reduced

End of the Year Prayer Service/Awards Assembly
Special Thank You to Father Wayne
Students ended the school year with
an Awards Assembly on June 5. The Assembly was followed by a prayer service
in church. Awards were given for Honor Roll, Christian Service, Physical Fitness,
Student Council, Performing Arts, Accelerated Reading, Weekly Worship, Presidential
Excellence and Academic Achievement, Principal's Award for Honor Roll all
four quarters, Perfect Attendance and Quarterly Raffle Winners.
The raffle is based on no missing
assignments, behavior infractions, office referrals, and uniform referrals
for the entire quarter.
Students were affirmed for their numerous
accomplishments during the quarter and throughout the year.
During our prayer service, students reflected on the accomplishments of the
year and talked about spreading the good news of Jesus
and St. Benedict School through positive
behaviors over the summer.
Students also honored Father Wayne
for his two years of ministry as Associate Pastor at St. Benedict.
Father will be the new pastor at Our Lady of the
Ridge Parish. He will be deeply missed.
Supply Lists
Please note the supply list that is in this newsletter. We are encouraging
parents to purchase GREEN supplies when Possible. Illinois Green Legislation
mandates that Green Cleaning Guidelines and Specification are to be followed
in order to facilitate a healthy environment for students, staff and students.
Church Hall Rental
Interested parties continue to inquire about the rental of
the Church Hall for parties.
Hall rental is open to parishioners
and school parents.
Anyone interested needs to
go to the rectory on Thursday evenings for approval.
After you are approved, you
will be directed to the committee that will be working with you on coordinating
the event.
